Sermon Title: "The First Temptation of Christ"
Sermon Date: 3-9-2025

Guest Pastor Julie Adkins delivered a sermon entitled "The First Temptation of Christ".  Our sins in the past aren't nearly as important as what we have learned from those experiences and how we manage not to repeat them.  Take time to be with yourself and God, to reflect on where you have been, where you are now, where you are going, what stands in your way ... and what you can do about it.

Bible versus  Deuteronomy 26: 1-22 and Luke 4: 1-13

Clothing Body and Soul

Mission Statement

First Presbyterian Church Plano is The Clothing Church in the heart of east Plano, Texas.  Following Christ's call in mission, we cover our community and world in God's love.

Vision Statement

FPC believes that God runs a "clothes line" of giving and sharing through it, linking all who have need to cover their bodies, which is everyone.  This happens by....
o  Clothing our community through donations given by the community itself.
o  Stitching together humanity's beautiful diversity by embracing all.
o  Mending injustice with humility and action.
o  Daily donning the mantle of Christ's greatest command to love God and love our neighbor as ourselves.

Our clothing ministry is 50+ years old and now it has partnered with “Streetside Showers” and lately  “POWS” (Plano Overnight Warming Station),   serving our homeless community.

--Here’s how you can DONATE clothing to our ministries--

Who do we serve?
We make clothing available to families and individuals who are in need in our local community.

What will we take?
We make it easy! We take ALL gently used and new clothing for babies, children and adults.

What clothing items are we MOST in need of?
By far the majority of folks we serve are adult males. Thus, depending on the season,
WE CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:
MEN’S

  • jeans, cargo pants, docker style, sweat pants.
  • We’ll take all sizes, but, especially need waist sizes 30 through 36 in any lengths.
  • tennis shoes, boots, rubber soled causal shoes as well as “shower” slides.
  • All sizes from 8 through 13 (with most needed sizes of 11 through 13).
  • belts, baseball style caps and white crew socks.
  • cold weather items we can’t get enough of are coats, hoodies, gloves, beanies and scarves.
  • warmer weather items needed are shorts and ankle length socks.
