2024 recap:

Our church, through generous gifts of clothing, money, time, and skills by church congregants and many community members, was able to prepare and distribute 22,620 clothing items to those in need this past year. 

We supplied clothing primarily through partnering with Streetside Showers and the Plano Overnight Warming Station (POWS) as well as our Church’s Family Clothes Closet. Other clothing distribution opportunities in 2024 came from supporting Hope Restored Missions (HRM), Breaking Free, Inc., God’s Pantry, and individuals and families walking up or calling our church requesting help. 

Our impact:

• Our various clothing ministries supported an estimated 2,400“participant visits” to events where we supplied clothing.
• We were able to better know members of our community that we may not have had contact with without participating in our church’s clothing outreach programs.
• Many of those who helped with our ministries have learned more about other ministries that help those in need. This newly gathered knowledge helps them point those in need toother organizations that can give assistance in areas where we are not able to help. 

One story about a gentleman we met in 2024:

During one of our Streetside Shower events our volunteers assisted an older gentleman, let’s call him Joe, that was mute. He was waiting his turn in line for clothing, but, being his first time at this event he had questions and seemed nervous. He pulled out a spiral notebook and scrawled what he needed and asked how the clothes trailer worked. We took the time to let him communicate even though distribution events can be fast paced and hectic at times. We also helped him select clothing items off the trailer. From that point on, when he sees us, he seems much calmer and has given us hugs. At a recent POWS (Plano Overnight Warming Station) event Joe saw one of our regular volunteers delivering clothing and he tapped him on the shoulder to say “hi”. Life is all about relationships….

Since we started keeping stats in 2020, after beginning to supply clothing to Streetside Showers participants in June 2020, The Clothing Church has distributed or supplied 81,624 clothing items through 2024.Thank you to all who have shared their God given gifts to help those in need in our community!
